With the iEM Cable Tester you can sweep for Shorts and Continuity.
Some of the fine *brands we can test include: JH Audio (4pin) (2pin) UE (ipx) 64 Audio (ipx/2 pin) Empire Ears (2 pin) Campfire audio (mmcx) Westone (mmcx) Fir Audio (RCX/MMCX)
If there is a short 2 lights will light up at the same time. (Unless its a JH Audio 4 pin, then 3 positive lights do light up since it has 1 ground and 3 positives for the attenuating pots on the cable.
Plug the termination of the cable into 3.5/2.5/4.4 socket, then plug in left IEM channel into the appropriate socket.
follow these steps for the right side after. (IMPORTAND, DO NOT TEST CABLE WITH ANY IEM’s ATTACHED TO THE CABLE. WILL RESULT IN FALSE READING OF A SHORT.) Start the sweep by turning the knob in the middle to test each position. Left channel lights are LED 1,2 Right channel LED lights are 3,4. Proper cable should light up corresponding LED. If no light comes on there is no contact in the cable on that channel, if more than one LED indication lights up at the same time, there is a short. Battery test button ensures that all LED lights light up during the test. If all 4 lights don’t come on during the battery test check the batteries and try again.
2 lights on at the same time = short. (2 wires touching) (JH 4 pin exception, 3 lights come on at the same time for positives. First light is JH ground contact.)
No lights on during channel sweep = no contact (break in cable)
One light for the proper channel selection = everything is in order.
